Highlights

* Intro to sailing and kayaking
* Boat on the Charles River
* Skilled staff of instructors
* Discount on full membership

Host: Graduate Student Association
Date: Tuesday April 6, 2010 – Tuesday June 15, 2010
Location: 21 David Mugar Way, Boston, Massachusetts 02114

A 30-day adult membership to Community Boating introduces you to the aquatic arts of sailing and kayaking via a variety of classes. Rookie paddlers will get to hit the water after just an hour of kayaking class. Captain Ahab wannabes, meanwhile, will have to conquer the rigors of rigging, the subtleties of sail theory, and the nuances of knots before they’re allowed to test for a solo rating—a prerequisite for classes in advanced techniques such as tacking, jibing, trimming, and jive-talking the mainsail. All classes take place on the water with plenty of hands-on access to Community Boating’s armada of Cape Cod Mercury sailboats and kayaks. Should you like the cut of your own jib and decide you’d like to continue boating at month’s end, you’ll get a $49 discount on the good ship Full Membership.

Community Boating is a not-for-profit organization that strives to bring the serenity of sailing to the Boston area through courses, community programs, and conch-shell-induced hypnotism. Founded in 1936, Community Boating and its skilled staff of skiff scoundrels conduct sailing tutorials on the Charles River, haunted to this day by the unsound and the furious ghost of Quentin Compson III. Check Community Boating’s class schedule and fire up your foray into fantastic flotation.
